On October 13 and 14, OPSBA hosted the annual Northern Regional Meeting and Program in Sault Ste. Marie.
Trustees, school board administrators, and OPSBA staff came together to continue the conversation with the Minister using graduation rates as a key focus, following previous meetings with the Minister and the Minister’s visits to northern Ontario schools. Ministry staff participated in a round-table discussion with attendees to deepen the connection, seek understanding and to engage in a dialogue to generate options and solutions to some of the unique challenges faced by northern school boards. In addition, a pan northern perspective presentation, prior to the Ministry panel, regarding the economic and workforce challenges facing small urban and remote northern communities, provided the context for Ministry staff.
